What does Ernie’s Rubber Duckie and Our House Have in Common?

When we first did our walk through, we highlighted a small, but very annoying defect – squeaky floors.  We listed the locations of the squeaks as in the family room, and upstairs in the following three locations:

  • Master Bath
  • Bedroom 2
  • Upstairs Hallway

Now, we understand that as temperatures and humidity changes, the floors will expand and contract.  But these creaks are persistent.  Upon listing this annoyances as issues, we were told that there was nothing that could be done about the master bath.  Why?  I can’t remember the reasons (it was over 3 years ago), but I can assure you it was due to the builder not wanting to rip up the linoleum.

We had better luck convincing UPH to fix the bedroom squeak.  They came out, ripped up some carpet, and nailed down some boards.  It seemed to work – for a bit.  The squeak in that room has migrated now to the master bedroom.   The hallway and living rooms were never fixed (just like the bath).

So one more reason not to buy a Unmistakably Premier Home…
